On behalf of the Emirates Medical Association and the Emirates Family Medicine Society, we would like to heartily invite you once again, delegates, esteemed faculty, committees and industry partners and friends, to the 2nd edition of the Emirates Family Medicine Society Congress, due between 10 to 12 January 2019, at the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City, UAE.

The 3-day highly educational scientific program will gather over 1000 physicians and healthcare professionals eager to hone their skills and expand their knowledge with the Best Topics from the Annual Family Medicine Experience 2018 of the American Academy of Family Physicians, which will address the full spectrum of topics in Family Medicine, and cover keynotes and plenary sessions, symposia, debates and networking opportunities, making it the must-attend Family Medicine Congress for 2019 in the GCC region.

The objective of 2nd EFMS Congress 2019 is to bring the best scientific experts to catalyze and advance scientific knowledge about the Family Medicine and present recent research findings via international scientific collaboration with American Academy of Family Physicians.

EFMS Congress 2019 is a platform to maintain high standards among physicians who practice family medicine realizing that family doctor’s effectiveness depends on up-to-date continuing education.

The American Academy of the Family Physicians is the national association of family doctors. It is one of the largest national medical organizations, with 129,000 members in 50 states D.C., Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam, as well as internationally.

Until October 3, 1971, It was known as American Academy of General Practice. The name was change in order to more accurately reflect the changing nature of primary health care.

The AAFP was founded in 1947 to promote and maintain high quality standards for family doctors who are providing continuing comprehensive health care to the public.

The AAFP FMX is the AAFP’s is the largest meeting for continuing education, drawing more than 10,000 physicians and visitors.

EFMS 2019 Abstract Submission Guidelines


Language: All abstracts are to be written in English. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to edit abstracts where the English structure makes comprehension difficult.

Submission: All abstracts must be submitted via the Online Abstract System that can be accessed at www.efmscongress.ae. This should be limited to a maximum of 500 words and should include the following:

  • Title of Abstract
  • Names and contact details of author(s) {organization, city and country, email, phone numbers, and mailing address}. Please underline the name of the presenter/s clearly and provide a 3-line biography of the author/s with your abstract (not included in the word limit).
  • The abstract must include the following headings clearly:
    Background, Methods, Results and Discussion
  • (Please provide evidence of ethical approval and funding acknowledgements, if any)
  • Any graphs, charts, diagrams, photos, videos or other forms of display of results should be sent separately by email to EFMS@infoplusevents.com
  • Abstract submission will be acknowledged via email. If you do not receive an email within two (2) weeks of submission or have any additional queries, please contact us by email at EFMS@infoplusevents.com

Scientific Topics are open to all Family Medicine related topics

Family Medicine is defined as ‘the medical specialty which provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family. It is the specialty in breadth which integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences. The scope of family practice encompasses all ages, both sexes, each organ system, and every disease entity.’ (AAFP)

Abstracts must contain original scientific data collected by the author(s). All reports must be based on work that has already been completed. No studies “in progress” will be accepted. Any established research design or method may be used.

Poster Presentation


  • Information should be summarized using brief written statements, graphic materials, such as photographs, charts, graphs, and diagrams mounted on standard size poster (84 cm x 110 cm); pins or other mounting materials will be supplied.
  • Authors must prepare all posters beforehand in a form enabling easy mounting.
  • Poster orientation must be portrait. Clear labels must be used for each section of the poster. Text should be of sufficient size for easy reading at a distance of 1.5 meter (between 16-20 font size).
  • Title must be displayed clearly at the top of the poster and should include the names of the author(s) and the institution(s) of origin and country.

Selection Criteria

Abstracts will be evaluated through a blind review process and scored based upon the following criteria to be selected for Poster Presentations:

  • Originality
  • Concept and Design
  • Presentation
  • Clinical Applicability
  • Other Characteristics

Display and Presentation

  • Author/s are responsible for mounting and taking down their poster during the congress.
  • Designated times for poster presentations will be incorporated into the congress.
  • Poster presenters should be available to discuss their posters with the congress participants during these periods and during the congress breaks.
  • Depending upon the number of poster presentations accepted, posters may be on display throughout the congress.

Terms and Conditions

  1. The scientific committee reserves the right to make the final decision about the abstract acceptance and its scheduling into the program, based on topics and time constraints.
  2. The language of the congress is English.
  3. All abstracts must be prepared using the abstract submission guidelines.
  4. Each presenter may submit a maximum of two abstracts.
  5. Each abstract submission must indicate if the material was published or presented in any other congress or if it received any awards.
  6. All presenters must register to attend the congress within a maximum of 1 week of acceptance of the abstract and be present at the time of the congress.
  7. A certificate of appreciation will be given to all the presenters to honor their presentation.
  8. Presenters must not use the session as a marketing opportunity for products\equipment.
  9. Congress registration charges will be waived off for accepted poster presenters only (for the Main Author only).
  10. Payment for travel /accommodation/visa charges is not provided.
